Instructions for Potential Authors of AAHFN CNE Offerings

If you are interested in writing or conducting a CNE activity please complete the online submission form by clicking here . The information needed at this initial stage is a paragraph providing a brief description of the program, objectives to be met by the program, and a sentence or two describing why this would be of interest to Heart Failure nurses. The Education Committee will review the idea and you will be given information to proceed with the planning if the topic is selected. CNE offerings can be presented in two (2) formats, You will need to indicate which format you would like use. The first format is an independent study. In this format, nurses read a manuscript and then must complete and pass a post test. The second format is a faculty directed webinar. With this format nurses are able to attend the live webinar or can access a recording of the webinar online. Continuing Nursing Education credits are awarded by attendance. Most CNE offerings are 60 minutes in length and are worth 1.0 CNE. All CNE offerings must be at least 30 minutes in length. A 30 minute presentation is worth 0.5 CNE. If approval is given to continue you will be asked to submit the following information as needed for the CNE application. You will need to complete the following information:
The AAFHN Education Committee will review all submissions and make final decisions regarding if the submission meets the requirements of WSNA/ANCC* and meets the quality of AAHFN offerings. Also, the author must follow AMA writing guidelines for referencing work and gaining permission to reprint illustrations or tables. The Education Committee will help new authors and mentor members in this process. Once approved, the offering is approved for a two year time period. Near the time when the offering expires, authors will be offered the opportunity to revise and update the work.
